Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of Manchester City’s opening Champions League clash with the knee injury he sustained against Crystal Palace.
The Argentine striker limped out of Saturday’s win at Selhurst Park after a hefty challenge from Scott Dann and is not fit to face Juventus.
“Sergio is not fit,” said manager Manuel Pellegrini. “I hope he will be OK for the weekend but we must wait to see the result of the scans.”
There was some good news for City though – winger Raheem Sterling has recovered from a hamstring problem and David Silva is fit after an ankle injury.
Captain Vincent Kompany was asked whether this was the best Manchester City squad he had seen and he said: “Early signs would say so but let’s wait and see.”
Likely City side to face Juventus: Hart; Sagna, Kompany, Mangala, Kolarov; Fernandinho, Toure; Sterling, Silva, De Bruyne; Bony.
