Toby Alderweireld is preaching caution over raised expectations after Spurs beat Manchester City 4-1, but the defender believes they can have a “fantastic season”.
Spurs ended their hoodoo against Manuel Pellegrini’s side by coming from behind to triumph 4-1 at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
It was an impressive win by the north Londoners’ band of young, exciting talent, who head coach Mauricio Pochettino told afterwards to keep calm and carry on – a message that has clearly been taken on board.
“It’s just a win, we can enjoy it, then we have to work hard again, improve every day and we can have a fantastic season,” Alderweireld told Spurs TV.
“We don’t have to dream too much, we stay with two feet on the ground, work hard and we know we have a young, talented group of players.
“If we work hard and we do everything we have to do then we have the quality to make the difference.”
