Sam Allardyce has hit back at Jamie Carragher after the Liverpool legend’s jibe at half-time of the Merseyside derby.
Everton battled for a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, in a game from which 16 Conclusions were drawn.
Liverpool dominated for almost all of the match before Dejan Lovren conceded a penalty for a push on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with Wayne Rooney converting and Jurgen Klopp going mental.
The hosts were on top to such a degree that, at half-time, Carragher remarked during Sky Sports’ coverage that “if [Everton] drop any deeper they will be in Stanley Park.”
Allardyce caught wind of those comments and, when they were brought to his attention during an interview for Danish TV, he hit back.
“Well, you get forced back – if Jamie’s listening. Jamie, if you’re listening to this.
“You get forced back by two things. One, is by the quality of the opposition.
“And two, the failing of your players to play out correctly when they’ve got possession.
“So when I see Jamie next time I’ll give him a lesson in coaching so he can understand it next time he’s commentating.”
