Ancelotti doubts Chelsea Premier League title hopes
Carlo Ancelotti thinks it will be “difficult” for his former side Chelsea to win the Premier League – but is backing Antonio Conte to be a success at Stamford Bridge.
Ancelotti, who is now in charge of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, left the Blues in 2011 after guiding them to a league and cup double in 2010.
And the Italian thinks his countryman will struggle to guide Chelsea to the title this season but hopes Conte can “build a new strategy” at the club.
“I think it depends what is the goal of the club,” Ancelotti told the Mail on Sunday .
“If the goal of the club is to win the Premier League, it will be difficult.
“But if the goal of the club is to build a new group, to build a new idea of football, to build a new strategy, I think that Conte has a lot of opportunity to do well at this club.”
