Arsenal could emerge as a rival to Chelsea for the appointment of Luis Enrique, according to a report.
Writing in the Daily Telegraph, football correspondent Matt Law says that Enrique would be interested in managing Chelsea, but is not interested in taking over until the end of the season.
That’s partly because he wants to complete his sabbatical away from the game and partly because he usual backroom staff are still at Celta Vigo.
Sources close to Enrique say that the manager is preparing to move to England, and therefore sees the Premier League as his next destination. But Law claims that it is not a done deal that he ends up at Chelsea.
He believes that Arsenal will emerge as a potential destination if Arsene Wenger leaves at the end of the season. It’s a lovely line, but does anyone actually see that happening?
Most likely scenario: Antonio Conte gets sacked soon, Guus Hiddink comes in as caretaker until June, Enrique then replaces him, Wenger stays put.
