Manchester City have been left ‘furious’ by Arsenal’s conduct in the failed transfer of Alexis Sanchez.
City were confident they would finally land a player they have coveted throughout the summer when they had a £60million bid accepted at 10am on Thursday.
Sanchez is even thought to have agreed personal terms on a move to City, but Arsenal’s inability to source a replacement saw them pull the plug on the deal.
According to ESPN, City are ‘furious’ with Arsenal ‘at the way they have dealt’ with the transfer.
‘Sources have told ESPN FC that City were surprised that Arsenal didn’t have a replacement lined up earlier having known about their interest in Sanchez since May,’ they write.
The Gunners did lodge a £90m bid for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar on Thursday afternoon, but withdrew the offer after deciding it was too late. Some reports suggest Lemar himself rejected the move.
City might even try to sign him on loan in January. That would be fun.
