Arsenal are said to be ‘strongly resistant’ to the idea of selling Olivier Giroud to Chelsea but the Frenchman is reportedly keen on the switch.
Giroud is clearly going to be surplus to requirements if the Gunners sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as looks increasingly likely.
Having already lost Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United, Arsenal are said to be very reluctant to strengthen another rival.
They had hoped to negotiate a move to Borussia Dortmund as part of the Aubameyang negotiations, but Giroud’s wife is said to be reluctant to move their family to Germany.
The Evening Standard suggest that her preference for staying in London could be a major factor in Giroud’s decision to join Chelsea if Arsenal accept a bid, though that could also be a factor in a potential West Ham move.
