Harry Arter is glad Bournemouth now have “one of the top midfielders in the world” on their books but admits he was “surprised” that he joined the club.
Wilshere joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan before the transfer deadline, however he is yet to start a match for his new side.
The 24-year-old made his first appearance on the south coast last week, playing for half an hour in their 1-0 victory over West Brom at the Vitality Stadium.
Eddie Howe has refused to rush Wilshere into action after his well-documented injury issues but Arter is backing the England international to play a starring role in Bournemouth’s season.
“It was a surprise seeing Jack come in,” Arter told the Bournemouth Daily Echo. “When he is fit I think he is one of the top midfielders in the world, I honestly do. I think he is an unbelievable footballer. For him to be at Bournemouth is great for everyone.
“It is great for the supporters, great for the players and I believe he will take us onto the next level. Every player is looking forward to working with him, myself included in that.”
