Ashley Young insists there is no bad blood between him and England teammate Dele Alli.
Young and Alli clashed in the first half of Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Tottenham last month, with Alli reportedly telling his counterpart to “retire with a zimmerframe”.
The Manchester United right-back responded by telling Alli to ‘let me know when you win the Prem’, then posted a message on Instagram after the game which stated that ‘Talk is cheap’.
But Young, now back in the England squad while Alli has dropped out through injury, insist the second message was not intended for the Tottenham forward, and that there is no issue between the pair.
“It would be nice to see him,” he told The Guardian.
“Things happen on football pitches. Once the game is finished, you don’t need to talk afterwards. That’s just how it is.
“He’s a confident player and that gives him that edge.”
Young finished ahead of Alli in our top ten English players of the season, as it were.
