Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez says Hector Bellerin is a “fantastic player” but their are no plans to bid for the Arsenal right-back.
The Spain full-back came through the ranks at La Masia before moving in 2013 to Arsenal, where he has established himself in Arsene Wenger’s first XI.
Barca have been linked with a move to bring Bellerin back to the club, and with Dani Alves leaving the Nou Camp this summer, talk has intensified that the Spain international could become the latest Arsenal star to be pursued by the Catalans.
But Fernandez attempted to play down those reports at a press conference on Thursday.
The sporting director said: “Hector Bellerín? I’m not planning anything.
“He is a fantastic player but I’m not planning any situation.”
Arsenal fans, though, may have been concerned to hear Fernandez’s later comments.
“To know how to play in Barcelona defensively is very difficult,” he said.
“You have to give importance to these players.”
