Barkley considering Everton exit to ‘save his England career’
Everton midfielder Ross Barkley could reportedly leave Goodison Park this summer so that he can “save his England career”.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Spurs recently and despite those rumours cooling, an Everton exit may still be on the cards.
Everton’s current chances of winning the Premier League next year are 100/1, according to the BetVictor football betting odds, showing how far they are off challenging for the title.
This is according to The Sun, who claim that Barkley is now behind new signing Davy Klaassen in the pecking order and will not be Ronald Koeman’s main attacking midfielder next season.
On a personal note, Barkley wants to guarantee as much playing time as possible to ensure he is in the picture for Gareth Southgate’s 2018 World Cup squad.
Barkley’s last appearance for England was over a year ago, when he came on as a substitute in a friendly victory against Australia.
He has one year left on his deal at Everton, and Toffees’ boss Koeman told him to sign a new contract or leave this summer.
