Bayern chief reveals latest on Gotze future

Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has discussed the latest “speculation” surrounding Mario Gotze’s future.

Gotze has endured a difficult season at Bayern, starting just seven games as he has struggled with injury and form.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the World Cup winner in the summer, with boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen to sign the player he managed at Borussia Dortmund.

Gotze’s contract at the Allianz Arena expires in 2017, and while a move to Anfield initially looks a bit weird, it really could happen.

“The length of his contract is known,” Rummenigge said in response to the latest rumours. “I don’t know any more. Neither he nor his advisor have stated anything publicly.

“So everything is speculation. I just wanted to show with my statement [in the newspaper] that we are at the end of the season, in which the titles are won.

“The team have worked and remain focused for the whole season, so that we can win the titles.

“And we have enough time after that to talk with him about his future if he wants to.”
