Bellerin ‘motivated’ by Manchester City interest
Hector Bellerin says that interest from Pep Guardiola and Manchester City “motivates” him.
Bellerin is a long-term target for both City and Spanish giants Barcelona.
Either club could make a move for the defender in the summer, with Arsenal likely to finish outside of the Champions League places, and facing an uncertain future under manager Arsene Wenger.
Bellerin admits that interest from City in particular “motivates” him.
“I know there has been interest from City, it’s a compliment,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“That a coach like Guardiola wants you in his ranks is very nice, that is what motivates me even more, a sign that things are going well, but I still have a long way to go and to improve.”
Bellerin then discussed former teammate Mikel Arteta, who joined City as a coach in the summer.
“Mikel is a very honest person, he never wanted to take me there.
“He knows what is best for me, Arteta is very special to me, he has been like a second father, he helped me a lot when I arrived at Arsenal, on and off the pitch.
“I have a lot of affection and respect for him.”
The right-back adds, on his future: “At the moment I’m very happy where I am, focused on finishing the season, and the U21 (with Spain), at Arsenal and then what comes, will come.”
