West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is expected to return to take training over the next few days following a stay in hospital with a bad case of flu.

Press Association Sport understands the Croatian was discharged from a London hospital on Tuesday and is now resting at home.

Bilic felt unwell following the 3-1 Premier League win at Middlesbrough on Saturday and after returning to the capital, went to hospital where he was subsequently kept in for observation.

West Ham have seen some of their other staff and players hit by a sickness bug, with winger Michail Antonio having been ill before the win over Crystal Palace on January 14.

The Irons are not in FA Cup action this weekend, so when he returns, Bilic will be preparing the squad for the visit of Manchester City on February 1.

Earlier this month, Pep Guardiola’s men romped to a 5-0 win at the London Stadium in the FA Cup third-round tie.
