Blackburn v Liverpool preview

It’s been over four weeks since the two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield but a lot has changed for Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers’ side had lost just one of 10 matches in all competitions heading into the first clash between the two sides, but since then they have suffered damaging back-to-back league defeats for the first time since November.
Manchester United and Arsenal have both enjoyed success against a depleted Liverpool and Blackburn will certainly fancy their chances of an upset.
Gary Bowyer’s side are in not in blistering form themselves having lost two of their last three Championship clashes but Good Friday’s 3-0 win away at leeds would have stirred confidence in the camp heading into the quarter-final replay.
Bowyer could be without as many as 14 first-team players for the visit of Liverpool.
Jay Spearing, David Raya, John O’Sullivan and Paul Taylor are all ineligible and Jason Lowe (foot) and Shane Duffy (knee) are long-term injury absentees.
Blackburn’s casualty concerns do not end there, with Grant Hanley, David Dunn, Josh King, Craig Conway, Rudy Gestede, Chris Brown, Chris Taylor and Simon Eastwood all nursing problems too.
Defender Emre Can misses the trip to Blackburn as he serves a one-match ban.
Fellow centre-back Martin Skrtel and captain Steven Gerrard are also suspended so it seems likely Dejan Lovren will make his first start since the original tie against Rovers at Anfield over a month ago.
Striker Mario Balotelli, who missed Saturday’s league defeat at Arsenal with a knee problem, will be assessed ahead of the short trip to East Lancashire.
