Brazil coach Tite has responded to questions about playing Philippe Coutinho through the middle by saying he has no choice but to follow Jurgen Klopp’s lead.
Klopp has largely played Coutinho out wide this season in the absence of Sadio Mane but many believe he should play centrally for both club and country.
Against England on Tuesday night, Coutinho played wide right, with Neymar on the left and Gabriel Jesus up front.
“If you have Coutinho in perfect condition, we could try to play him in the middle,” said Tite after the 0-0 draw.
“But we played him as a winger because right now he is playing there for Liverpool. If he was in normal condition, we could try to play him in a central position.”
27 wrong passes by Brazil so far. Useless possession. No creativity in the final third, despite Coutinho and Neymar being located centrally – which addresses another problem, lack of wide play.
First European opponent, already one of our worst performances. Quelle surprise.
