Their 3-1 home reverse to Sheffield United on Saturday was just their fourth loss of the campaign and Cotterill could name an unchanged XI.
The former Cheltenham boss recalled Mark Little against the Blades having rested him against Port Vale and he should keep his place, while Aaron Wilbraham is once again likely to be assessed.
The City striker was not included at the weekend to give him more recovery time from his injury setback but he could be passed fit to feature on the bench.
Joe Newell and Marcus Maddison are injury doubts for Peterborough.
Midfielder Newell came off at half-time on Saturday with a groin problem while Maddison missed the home win over Rochdale with a knee complaint. Posh boss Darren Ferguson told local reporters on Monday that Maddison was “still feeling the effects” of that injury.
Jon Taylor returned to the squad at the weekend following a three-month absence with knee trouble and the winger will be involved again after suffering no ill effects following his substitute appearance.
New signing David Norris, also on the bench against Dale, is fit enough to start if required. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Scott Loach has returned to Rotherham now that his loan spell has expired.
