Bristol City v Sheff Utd preview

City will continue to monitor leading scorer Jon Stead ahead of the visit of the striker’s former club Sheffield United.
Stead has been nursing an ankle problem for a couple of weeks but has started the games against Leeds and Leicester since sustaining the injury.
“We will assess him again on Friday, like we have done the last few weeks,” said boss Keith Millen. “But we have got Brett Pitman and Davis Clarkson, who were both on the scoresheet last weekend and who are showing good confidence and form.”
Captain Louis Carey will remain sidelined with the shin and ankle injuries he sustained in the defeat at Leeds a fortnight ago. The defender could come back into the reckoning for next weekend’s trip to Nottingham Forest.
Sheffield United will be without suspended striker Daniel Bogdanovic.
The Malta international was sent off for his challenge on Nathaniel Clyne late in last week’s win over Crystal Palace and starts a three-game ban.
Gary Speed is still without fellow striker Jamie Ward due to an ankle injury and could be forced to add young Jordan Slew to his squad, with Ched Evans and Richard Cresswell starting again up front.
Otherwise, Speed has no new injury or suspension concerns as his side chase a third successive league win in their bid to climb away from relegation trouble.
Nyron Nosworthy will continue alongside Kyle Bartley in central defence in the absence of Chris Morgan, who is ruled out for the rest of the season following knee surgery.
