Buffon: I have one more chance to win the Champions League

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon admitted he has “one more chance” to win the Champions League before his career ends.

The Italy legend was on the wrong side of a 4-1 result against Real Madrid as Los Blancos retained their CL title.

Buffon is currently 39 and although still as impressive as ever, he acknowledges that time is running out to win the one that (so far) got away.

“I still have one more year on my contract, so that means I have one more chance of winning the Champions League,” he told Sky Sports in Italy.

“Admittedly, it’ll be tough to do better than this year, because we could’ve done something truly incredible this season.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t manage it.”

Buffon has previously hinted that he will retire after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“I will try to make the next World Cup and then it may be time to close the door. It will almost certainly be at the end of the 2018 World Cup,” he said in January 2016.
