Burton v Chesterfield preview

Burton have been dealt a double injury blow ahead of the visit of Chesterfield with the news that Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Jimmy Phillips could both miss the remainder of the campaign.
Cansdell-Sherriff, a rock at the centre of defence this campaign alongside Ian Sharps, has a small tear in his Achilles while midfielder Phillips suffered knee ligament damage during the draw at Newport on Monday.
Albion hope Cansdell-Sherriff could be fit again for the play-off semi-finals but Phillips’ recovery will take around three months.
Striker Adam McGurk (groin) is expected to feature against the Spireites and on-loan Wolves winger Zeli Ismail (hamstring) could also be in the squad if he passes a fitness test.
Drew Talbot may come back into contention for Chesterfield against fellow promotion hopefuls Burton.
Talbot is close to making his long-awaited return from an abductor problem and the right-back could be involved at the Pirelli Stadium on Sunday. Sam Morsy will serve the second game of a three-match suspension while fellow midfielder Ollie Banks (foot) will not play again this season.
Depending on the outcome of fourth-placed Fleetwood’s home game against Southend on Saturday, Chesterfield could only need a draw to mathematically guarantee automatic promotion.
Should Scunthorpe fail to win at relegation-threatened Exeter, victory 24 hours later would see Paul Cook’s side go into their final game of the season top of the table.
