Jamie Carragher has picked his Premier League team of the season and crowbarred a Liverpool player into his line-up.

The Reds legend has made only one change to the PFA team of the year, replacing Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin with Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne.

Otherwise, he has named the same line-up as the players, with Dele Alli and N’Golo Kante in central midfield.

When asked for his player of the year by the Daily Mail, Carragher said: ‘I’ll give you my one-two-three. For the goals he has scored away from home and the threat he has provided throughout the season, it has to be MAHREZ. He beats KANE, a striker who is going from strength to strength for Tottenham and England. Third place goes to KANTE.’
