Lazio centre-half and Liverpool target Stefan de Vrij has opened up over his future.
Liverpool were linked with a move for De Vrij in the summer, but eventually opted not to sign a centre-half and stick with their existing options.
That was silly, because their existing options are often exposed as not good enough, and so Liverpool may well retain an interest in the Dutchman.
The 25-year-old says he is currently happy at Lazio, and is looking to negotiate a new contract, but “you never know what will happen”.
“Besides playing well as a team there are also a lot of friendships among us. This is a really nice thing,” de Vrij said, as reported by The Sun.
“I’m very happy to be here. We are talking to the club right now and I hope to find an agreement.
“You never know what will happen. My intention is to grow and improve and make the best decision for my career.”
