Chelsea anger Conte with player sale demands – reports

Chelsea have insisted that Antonio Conte must sell some of the players to help fund a £200million spending spree, according to reports.

The Daily Mirror claims that the text Conte sent to Diego Costa was as a direct result of the revelation that he would have to sell before he could buy.

Conte reportedly texted the forward to tell him he was no longer a part of his plans going forward, and that he was free to look for another club.

The message, which significantly weakens Chelsea’s negotiating position as potential buyers now know Costa is unwanted at the club, is thought to have created tension between Conte and the board.

Conte is understood to have told pals about his anger over the slow transfer window and the fact that he will have to self-finance his purchases this summer.

The report continues by saying that Conte had plans to spend £200million on Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, Bayern Munich centre-back Jerome Boateng and Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.

Conte was hoping to get out of the blocks quickly in this summer’s transfer window but he is already behind both Manchester clubs, who have purchased players.

Roman Abramovich is understood to be unwilling to approve such an outlay and the Daily Mirror claims that sources have suggested that the Italian could even quit Stamford Bridge over the issue.
