Chelsea defender: I don’t understand why we always drop…

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger cannot fathom why the Blues so often allow opponents a way back into the game after taking the lead.

The champions again surrendered an advantage on Sunday to allow West Ham to take a 1-1 draw which leaves Antonio Conte’s side 10 points off the top four.

Defender Rudiger couldn’t hide his frustration after the game.

“I think we begged. We begged for the goal,” he told Sky Sports.

“I think in the second half we [should] finish the game. But like the last few months, we didn’t and we conceded.

“For me, it’s not easy to explain. I don’t understand why after 1-0 we always drop and let the opponent get more ball possession.

“Like the last weeks again, we gave them a gift. I think that was the first chance they had.

Rudiger was also frustrated that Chelsea could not honour Ray Wilkins with a win after the Blues legend died last week.

“Yes of course, it’s sad we didn’t give something back to him. Sorry for that,” he added.

“The thing is we have to look we have start to play good football and win games. If you don’t win games there’s no top-four, it’s easy.”
