Chelsea are interested in signing Niklas Sule after the Hoffenheim defender rejected Liverpool this summer.
The Blues pursued Sule’s signature themselves throughout the summer, but eventually settled on a returning David Luiz to solve their central-defensive issues.
Liverpool had also been interested in the German centre-half but, according to SportBild, he rejected a move to Anfield.
The German daily claims the Reds failed with a move, as did Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Bayer Leverkusen, AS Roma, Naploli, and AC Milan.
Sule explained his reasons for staying earlier this week, saying: “I need familiar surroundings and need to constantly play at my level to develop even further.”
According to the player’s agent, Chelsea will revisit their interest in future transfer windows.
“Yes, there was interest,” Sule’s agent, Karlheinz Forster, told Bild. “The English have made it clear they’ll still be interested next year,” he added, referring to Antonio Conte’s side.
