Chelsea are closing in on the signing of New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga, who is heading to England to undergo a medical.
Miazga has left the USA’s training camp ahead of their upcoming friendlies to fly to London to complete a move after a fee was agreed between Guus Hiddink’s side and the MLS franchise.
The 20-year-old will cost in the region of £3.5million, according to the Daily Mail, which also reports that Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City were watching the centre-half.
Miazga also holds a Polish passport, meaning he will not have to obtain a work permit before joining the Blues. He had less than a year remaining on his contract in MLS, meaning the Red Bulls have chosen to cash in on the New Jersey-born defender before losing him for nothing next winter.
