A post on Riyad Mahrez’s official Facebook account announcing his retirement has caused mass confusion.
The Leicester winger posted an update on his social media page around midnight on Tuesday, saying that he has ‘decided to stay away from football’.
But Sky Sports News report that the post ‘was a result of his Facebook account being hacked’.
Mahrez has returned to the Leicester first team after a brief hiatus following his failure to secure a move in January.
The Algerian was the subject of a bid from Manchester City two months ago, and was said to be so distraught at the move collapsing that he missed two consecutive Premier League games.
But he has improved upon his return to the side, scoring a last-gasp equaliser against Bournemouth, after which he vowed to “give everything for the club”.
So yeah, he probably hasn’t retired then. Although that post hasn’t been deleted yet.
