Conte defends Morata after goalless draw with Foxes

Antonio Conte thinks other players are also to blame and not just striker Alvaro Morata for Chelsea’s failure to score in their 0-0 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.

Morata has a decent return this season with 10 goals in 20 Premier League appearances but he has gone five matches in all competitions without scoring now.

On Alvaro Morata failure to find the back of the net, Conte told the BBC: “I don’t think it is only Morata’s problem, also the other players, because we are not scoring goals, we are not conceding, but we are not creating chances.”

In terms of the match itself, Conte thinks some of his players were suffering from fatigue against Leicester, he added: “I think we played with a lot of top players against Arsenal, and then again today against a very good team. I think a lot of our players were tired.

“In the first half Leicester ran more than us, they played better than us. But we knew we were playing against a good opponent, maybe the worst opponent we could have played in this moment. We suffered a lot in the first half.”

Gary Cahill was taken off injured on 33 minutes and Conte continued: “I think he is with the doctor now, but it’s okay, I do not think it was serious.”
