Spartak Moscow boss Massimo Carrera has credited Antonio Conte for helping his side to a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Chelsea boss played with Carrera at Juventus before joining him as part of his coaching team in Turin and then with the Italian national side.
Fernando opened the scoring for the Russian side during their Group E encounter before Philippe Coutinho drew the scores level before the break.
Spartak were second best for much of the contest and Carrera revealed that he sought advice from Conte ahead of the fixture at the Otkrytiye Arena.
“During the conversation we talked about Liverpool for just a couple of minutes,” Carrera said.
“We more discussed the situation in our teams, personal affairs, vacation, but what he said about the British, I needed.
“We played a great game against a very good team. I don’t have any complaints about my team’s performance.
“I just want to praise everyone. Am I happy with the result? Yes, we got a draw against a very good team.”
