Conte hints that Morata will make Chelsea return v Roma

Alvaro Morata is in line to make his return from injury for Chelsea against Roma.

The Blues face Roma in the Champions League group stages on Wednesday, hoping to virtually assure qualification for the knock-out rounds with a home victory.

Chelsea have beaten both Qarabag and Atletico Madrid in their two games so far, and lead Group C by two points.

Roma are second in the group and so a home win at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday would solidify Chelsea as the leaders, and Morata is expected to return.

The striker has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, but is our player to watch this midweek as he closes in on fitness.

“Alvaro is in contention for tomorrow’s game. He has been training with us and is in contention for tomorrow,” Conte said.

“Honestly, I could have taken a risk on Saturday and forced him to play against Crystal Palace but I’m not so stupid. The situation is very difficult.

“You have to make the best decision and, for sure, tomorrow I’m not taking a risk if I decide Morata can play. For sure.”
