Coquelin: It’s already up to three months

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Francis Coquelin will be out for three months after sustaining a knee ligament injury against West Brom on Saturday.

After the game at the Hawthorns, Wenger initially said that he hoped Coquelin would be back in two months.

“I’m always a bit cautious,” he said. “It is at least two months but I’m cautious as we had so many bad surprises on scans that I do not want to speculate more than that. Certainly for the next two months we play without Coquelin.”

Fast forward three days, and two months has now become three.

“It is what we feared basically,” Wenger said of Coquelin after a 3-0 home victory over Dinamo Zagreb.

“It means it will be, let’s be realistic – a medial knee ligament – 12 weeks.”

We’ll let you be the judge whether Coquelin will play again before March.
