Coutinho to miss Bordeaux but should face Swansea
Philippe Coutinho should be fit to face Swansea on Sunday, but the Liverpool midfielder will miss the club’s Europa League exertions.
Coutinho starred in the 4-1 demolition of Manchester City, scoring one goal and assisting another, before having to be substituted just after the hour mark with a hamstring injury.
However a scan on Monday night revealed the Brazilian could be fit in time to face Swansea City on Sunday, although he will miss Thursday’s visit of Bordeaux in the Europa League.
The news will come as a huge boost to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, with the 23-year-old in superb form since the German took over from Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.
Liverpool have had a lengthy injury list to deal with this season, although those troubles are starting to be eased.
Striker Daniel Sturridge was named on the bench at the Etihad, while captain Jordan Henderson, left-back Jose Enrique and youngster Jordan Rossiter are all expected to return to training over the coming weeks.
However defensive duo Mamadou Sakho and Jon Flanagan still face another month on the sidelines, and Danny Ings and Joe Gomez are likely to miss the rest of the season with serious knee injuries.
