Cumbrians produce classy comeback

The Dons looked sharp on the counter-attack in Saturday’s League One clash at Brunton Park, and took the lead in the 15th minute following superb work down the left by Jemal Johnson whose cross evaded Sam Baldock at the near post but fell for Aaron Wilbraham who controlled the ball before shooting past keeper Tim Krul from 12 yards.
The visitors continued to threaten and Wilbraham grabbed his second goal in the 39th minute when he shrugged off Peter Murphy’s challenge just inside the area and placed a low shot wide of Krul and inside the keeper’s left-hand post.
Carlisle needed to hit back early in the second half and that is exactly what they did courtesy of 15-goal leading scorer Danny Graham who gathered Danny Livesey’s hopeful long ball before turning Miguel Llera to fire home an angled effort from the edge of the six-yard box.
Carlisle drew level in the 64th minute when Graham chested down David Raven’s free-kick from just inside the Dons half and skipper Paul Thirlwell cracked home a first-time shot from the edge of the area.
The Cumbrians’ comeback was complete in the 77th minute when Joe Anyinsah, who had only been on the field a couple of minutes in place of Scott Dobie, made a positive run through the inside right channel and fired in a shot from 20 yards which took a big deflection before looping into the net.
