Kevin de Bruyne insists “it doesn’t matter” that Alexis Sanchez chose to join Manchester United over Manchester City.
Sanchez seemed certain to join City either this month or in the summer, with the Chilean having been a long-term target of Pep Guardiola’s.
City failed in a bid to sign him from Arsenal last summer for around £60million, and lodged a bid of £20m this month.
But United stole a march on their bitter rivals and completed a swap deal for Sanchez, which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head to north London.
De Bruyne, who appeared to let slip news of Sanchez’s future at the start of the month, says it is no problem that he chose not to join.
“It doesn’t matter,” said De Bruyne. “We will still do what we need to do, with or without him.
“He chose United. Okay, there are a lot of good players. If they want to come, they want to come, and otherwise we will do it with our team.”
