De Gea ‘to consider future’ if Van Gaal stays

Is it just worth giving Jorge Mendes the Manchester United job and being done with the whole thing?

After weeks of leaks (allegedly) to the media about Jose Mourinho potentially talking to other clubs, we have a new twist on the Mourinho to United saga.

The Guardian, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror and Daily Telegraph all report that David de Gea (a Mendes client) will consider his future as a Manchester United player if Louis van Gaal stays beyond this summer as manager.

De Gea came very close to a move to Real Madrid last summer, only to be scuppered by a broken fax machine. There is no doubt that Real would be happy to come back in for De Gea this summer.

De Gea has enjoyed another successful campaign at United, named as the club’s player of the year and also picked in the PFA’s team of the year. Yet reports suggest he will try and engineer a move away from the club if Van Gaal is allowed to see out his contract at Old Trafford.

Funnily enough, De Gea will be more happy to stay if Van Gaal leaves, with Mourinho (Mendes client) the clear favourite to take over from the Dutchman.

How completely unedifying.
