Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed he is ‘looking at his options’, amid reports the Arsenal full-back is set to quit the Gunners and make a move to Aston Villa.
Debuchy has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal following the emergence of Hector Bellerin at right-back and is expected to leave the club during the January transfer window.
The Sun on Sunday claims that the defender is on his way to Aston Villa, with Debuchy indicating he’s ready to quit the Emirates.
Speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe, he said: “It’s true that there are clubs looking to sign me and right now I’m assessing my options. Whatever happens, I want to leave, even on loan. I can’t stay at Arsenal.
“Aston Villa are in great difficulty and that’s why I’m taking time before making a decision. They’re a big English club and I’m not ruling out the possibility. I have also talked to Remi Garde over the phone.”
