Debuchy out for six weeks with ‘severe’ injury

Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has been ruled out for six weeks, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The 31-year-old last only 14 minutes in the Premier League match against Bournemouth after making his first appearance for the Gunners in a year.

It’s an unfortunate blow for the Frenchman whose injury will also prevent him from joining another club on loan in January.

“Severe hamstring injury, six weeks out,” said Wenger. “It’s frustrating more for him, he has exceptional attitude, he is absolutely disappointed, but he will fight to come back.”

Despite Debuchy’s latest setback and the long-term injury to Santi Cazorla, the Gunners boss is content with the volume of injuries the club have suffered this season.

“On the injury front this season, we have been very strong, we have not had many injuries,” Wenger added. “We have had very few. Accidental injuries, you can not do anything about it. Cazorla was a kick at the start on the back of his foot.”
