Defensive crisis for Lilywhites gaffer

On-loan Elliott Ward is ineligible to play against his parent club while Youl Mawene is away on compassionate leave, leaving Sean St Ledger and Liam Chilvers as the likely central defensive partnership with Wright competing for a place on the bench.
Fellow youngster Adam Barton will be assessed over the next 24 hours having been forced off on his debut in last weekend’s 3-2 win over Scunthorpe following a clash of heads. The injury is not as bad as first feared but he will play no part at the Ricoh Arena.
Ross Wallace is available after a two-match ban while Chris Sedgwick and Darren Carter also both return following knee problems and will be looking to step into midfield.
Long-term absentee Barry Nicholson (broken leg) will see a surgeon on Tuesday and is hoping to get the all clear to return to full contact training next week but Paul Parry remains sidelined.
