Ousmane Dembele has missed Dortmund training without permission as reports claim that the forward is edging closer to a move to Barcelona.
The Spanish club are understood to have been negotiations for days with the Bundesliga outfit, however it’s believed that Dortmund would not accept less than £135million for the 20-year-old.
Over the weekend reports claimed that Dembele had agreed terms on a contract ahead of a £90million move to the Camp Nou as replacement for Neymar.
Peter Bosz, the man who succeeded Thomas Tuchel as Dortmund boss, confirmed that Dembele had not reported for a scheduled training session on Thursday and has “no idea” why the player was absent.
“He wasn’t there this morning and if I am completely honest I have to say that I have no idea why he wasn’t,” said Bosz. “We have tried to reach him but we have not managed to. I hope that nothing bad has happened to him. He wasn’t there.”
When asked if his non-appearance at training was down to a potential move to Barca, Bosz said: “That I do not know as I haven’t spoken to him.”
That’s following a report in French publication L’Equipe that Dembele will travel to Barcelona “in the coming hours” to complete the formalities of a transfer to Catalonia.
