Dier surprised by Kane’s Ballon D’Or snub

Eric Dier has expressed his surprise that Harry Kane was not nominated for the Ballon D’Or.

France Football’s list was announced earlier this week, with Jamie Vardy, Hugo Lloris and Riyad Mahrez all nominated.

Given that Kane scored more Premier League goals than Vardy, Dier is surprised that his club teammate missed out.

However, Dier did say that Kane would not be bothered about the snub.

“Leicester won the Premier League but that doesn’t mean to say Harry should miss out. He had a fantastic season,” the England international told the London Evening Standard.

“To be top scorer in the league after the slow start he had was a brilliant achievement. He could have been on that list, though I am sure he is not too bothered about it.

“We have many players who can be on it in the future, though, if they want to. It is a matter of working hard and trying to improve.”
