Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has rejected talk that Ilkay Gundogan could join Manchester City in the summer.
Gundogan has been with the Bundesliga club for almost five years, but has been linked with a move away from Dortmund almost every summer.
On Tuesday, photos emerged of Gundogan’s agent meeting with Txiki Begiristain, which caused widespread reports of a £23m move this summer.
However, Dortmund coach Tuchel and goalkeeper Roman Weidenfellerboth rejected the notion that Gundogan would leave.
“I have not seen the photos. I do not care,” Tuchel said.
“I’m not disappointed and I’m not convinced [by them]. I don’t get the hype.”
“I’m very sure that Ilkay knows what kind of development he can take here and how valuable he is to the club.”
Goalkeeper Weidenfeller believes that if Gundogan was to leave, it would be for financial reasons.
“There are a lot of big clubs that may be interested in our players, but Dortmund is also big club,” he said.
“England is a good league, but I think the best options are currently in Germany.
“There is no reason to leave Dortmund on a sporting level, though you can improve your salary elsewhere.”
