Dyche ‘disappointed’ with Moss decision

Burnley manager Sean Dyche felt his side were on the wrong end of an injustice after Arsenal’s controversial win at the Emirates.

Dyche’s men looked set to earn a big away point when Andre Gray scored from the spot in stoppage time to cancel out Shkodran Mustafi’s 59th-minute effort.

But Arsenal were given a spot-kick of their own in the last of seven additional minutes when referee Jon Moss, who had already shown Granit Xhaka a red card and sent Arsene Wenger to the stands, pointed to the spot again after Ben Mee’s high foot connected with Laurent Koscielny in the box.

Alexis Sanchez converted the resulting penalty to seal victory for the Gunners, but Dyche thought Koscielny was in an offside position.

The Clarets boss told Sky Sports: “Our team are doing their job, they’re clearing the defensive line like they should do in order to make sure that we get out the box, and he’s offside.

“Forget about the penalty, if he’s offside, he’s offside.

“So obviously I’m very disappointed after the lads have given a spirited performance.

“Even the challenge, it’s a strange one because if you’re defending properly and appropriately you’re looking at the ball and all he’s doing is looking at the ball and he turns around to clear the ball.

“So it’s a maybe that one, but the fact is he’s offside.”
