Borussia Dortmund have suspended star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for their weekend fixture against Stuttgart for disciplinary reasons.
Dortmund gave no further reasons for the suspension, but Aubameyang is reportedly baffled at what he is supposed to have done wrong.
The striker has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with Real Madrid considered to be the favourites to sign the Gabon international. This is hardly likely to dampen down that talk.
A statement from Dortmund on Twitter read: “Aubameyang has been removed from the squad for tomorrow’s match for disciplinary reasons.”
Still, English clubs should probably not get too excited. Only last month, Aubameyang explained that he had little interest in moving to the Premier League.
“I was never tempted by the Premier League,” he told Telefoot. “It’s simply a personal opinion.”
Pretty daunting what @fluestertweets writes. Team sources tell him that Aubameyang "allowed himself numerous lapses of discipline, arrives late for training constantly and considers himself untouchable." #bvb https://t.co/EIpueG3mM9
