East Stirlingshire physio Anna Murray was targeted by some fans during her side’s 1-0 win at Ochilview Park.
A statement from the club read: “The chanting and singing by that group of supporters was disgusting, rude and sexist.
“We are a family club with ladies and child supporters, as are East Stirlingshire FC; they should not have been exposed to this type of language and behaviour.
“The fans who acted in such a disgusting manner should consider whether they wish to return to Bayview in future as the club cannot be expected to tolerate this behaviour again.”
Murray, as well as being a qualified physiotherapist, plays for Hutchison Vale Ladies in the Scottish Women’s Premier League and has represented Scotland at under-17 and under-19 levels. Her uncle, Jim McInally, is the manager of Peterhead.
East Fife have apologised to Murray and she told the Daily Record: “East Fife contacted me and I have accepted their apology. I will be back in the dug-out on Saturday.
“I’m not the first, and unfortunately not the last, person it will happen to.”
