Emery targets four as Arsenal increase budget by 40%

Matt Stead

Arsenal have agreed to grant Unai Emery a further £20million in transfer funds for this summer.

Emery was appointed Arsenal manager earlier this week, with reports claiming he will be handed an initial budget of just £50m.

That money was expected to be supplemented by revenue from player sales.

But Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph reports that majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has ‘agreed to release’ another £20m for the new manager.

Kroenke has given the ‘green light’ for Emery and Sven Mislintat to identify transfer targets together.

Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, who has a £26m release clause, is wanted.

Dennis Praet of Sampdoria is also a target, as well as Caglar Soyuncu of Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Let’s hope he’s read our transfer guide.
