Marcus Rashford is likely to be one of several England players rested for their trip to Lithuania if World Cup qualification is secured.
The 19-year-old has already played 612 minutes for Manchester United this season and Jose Mourinho is keen to see him saved the trip to Vilnius.
Rashford will start against Slovenia on Thursday night at Wembley, having scored in England’s last victory over Slovakia.
The Daily Express claims that ‘Jose Mourinho has put himself on course for another club-versus-country clash with England coach Gareth Southgate, this time over striker Marcus Rashford’, but the Daily Mirror say that boss Gareth Southgate is ‘ready to let some England players miss the trip to Lithuania’.
Harry Kane is another player likely to be granted a rest, having played 783 minutes for Tottenham and another 180 minutes for England already this season.
The Mirror suggests that Jermain Defoe could start against Lithuania, though a rare start for Daniel Sturridge seems more likely.
