England ranked fifth by FIFA

Mark Sampson’s side recovered from defeat against France in their World Cup opener to reach the semi-finals for the first time in their history.
They also recorded their first win in 21 attempts against two-time world champions Germany to seal third spot, making them the most successful senior England side since Sir Alf Ramsey’s 1966 World Cup winners.
USA have reclaimed top spot from Germany after winning this year’s tournament, while France and Japan remain third and fourth respectively.
Sweden are down to to seventh, while World Cup hosts Canada have dropped out of the top ten altogether after just two wins in five games against lesser-ranked teams, falling three places to 11th.
Like England, Colombia (25th), Costa Rica (34th) and Cameroon (43rd) have also achieved their highest-ever world ranking.
