Enrique denies West Brom offer

Liverpool full-back Jose Enrique has vowed to “fight for his future” at the club after denying West Brom made a deadline day bid to sign him.

Spanish full-back Enrique is seemingly out of favour with Reds boss Brendan Rodgers and had been training with just Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini, who have now both been sold.

With West Brom reportedly interested in signing the 29-year-old left-back on deadline day, it appeared his Anfield turmoil was close to coming to an end.

But the former Newcastle player insisted there was no offer from the Baggies and says he plans to battle for a shirt under Rodgers.

Enrique tweeted: “Just to let you all know that it wasn’t any offer from West Brom for me.

“I’m happy to stay and fight for my place.”

Enrique’s last Liverpool appearance came in the FA Cup at Bolton in January, and he has been criticised by fans for posting photos of himself on holiday and at leisure on Twitter and Instagram.

But he has now deactivated both accounts, after posting a final message which read: “I thought it was good to share with the fans pictures but I think they have been killing me for that.

“Ok, chao (sic) Instagram and Twitter. Focus on football and show myself again.”
