Erm, what? La Liga refuses to accept PSG cash for Neymar

La Liga has reportedly refused to accept the €222 million payment from Paris Saint Germain for Neymar, which could scupper the deal.

Barcelona have agreed to let Neymar leave for Paris, but only if his release clause is met.

Sports lawyer Juan de Dios Crespo reportedly arrived at La Liga’s offices in Madrid on Thursday to present the offer, but was turned away.

“We can confirm that the lawyers of the player have come to La Liga to deposit the clause and that it has been rejected,” a La Liga statement reads. “It is all the information we will give so far.”

This comes after La Liga president Javier Tebas accused PSG of financial doping, and said that he would demand UEFA investigate the transfer.

Whether this is a power play, a d*ck move or a publicity tactic remains to be seen, but the deal for Neymar cannot go through until La Liga accept that payment.

It’s all getting very political, and thus very murky, indeed.
