Everton in talks to sign £15million striker – report

Everton have opened talks with Deportivo la Coruna over a deal for Lucas Perez, according to reports.

Lucas has been linked with Leicester earlier this summer after scoring 17 goals in La Liga last season.

And according to the Daily Telegraph, Steve Walsh – who left Leicester to become Everton’s director of football – remains a keen admirer of the 27-year-old.

The Toffees are hoping to strike a deal worth around £15million for the striker, who is viewed as having the ability to play alongside Romelu Lukaku or lead the line on his own.

Ronald Koeman is keen to add to his striking options before the end of the transfer window, with Gerard Deulofeu having started the first two matches of the season up front while Lukaku has recovered from injury.

January flop Oumar Niasse has been told to find a new club, while James McCarthy could also be a surprise exit from Goodison Park with a host of clubs interested in the midfielder.
